Unidentified gang robs Rs 26L from car on highway

Mandya: Four unidentified miscreants travelling in an SUV allegedly robbed Rs 26 lakh being transported in a car near Channegowdana Doddi on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway under Maddur police limits on Friday late evening.

Police said the driver was assaulted before the accused forcibly stopped the vehicle on a deserted stretch after overtaking it. The cash, collected from the Mysuru office of a private company, was being transported in the car. Only the driver was in the car when the incident happened, police said.

The gang allegedly opened the car doors forcefully, snatched the cash and fled from the spot along with the driver’s mobile phone. The car driver alerted the police with the help of the public.

Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani visited the spot along with senior officials.
