NAGPUR: The Orange City has just started experiencing the rising temperatures and some people have installed coolers in their homes. A cooler installed at a home in the city unfortunately took the life of a 17-month old girl child on Sunday afternoon.
Victim Arya Reddy, the first child of her parents, was electrocuted when she came in contact with a cooler on Sunday.
Interestingly, the family members claimed that the cooler was not functioning the moment Arya touched it. "I had just gone to fetch some water for her when she went near the cooler," said Vijay Reddy, her grandfather . "Even though the cooler was switched off, she was electrocuted. Perhaps, she playfully touched the side of the cooler or the water near the base," said Vijay, recalling the incident.
It was Arya's grandmother, Tarabai who raised an alarm after witnessing the accident. Neighbour Kalpana Waghmare too rushed to help the Reddys. Arya was rushed to a private nursing home on Sakkardara road where the doctors made a desperate attempt to save her. "As she did not respond to treatment, doctors advised us to take her to Government Medical College and Hospital," added Kalpana.
"Arya was a very active child. This is just unbelievable," observed a sobbing family member. "We urge people to be more careful while installing coolers and learn a lesson from our tragedy," she concluded.
Reddys want people to take a lesson from their loss. "We do not want any more families to face such a loss," said Arya's sobbing grandmother. The incident has left Arya's father Sanjay, who is a marketing professional, dumb stuck.
