NAGPUR: An engineer with the Maharashtra state electricity distribution company (MSEDC) has been booked in a cow electrocution case, police said on Sunday. A 45-year-old person lodged a police complaint after his cow, worth Rs 35,000, was electrocuted when heavy showers accompanied by hailstorm lashed the city on Saturday.
Ajjubhai Mohammad Usman, a resident of Ghat Road, had tied his cow to an electric pole in front of his house.
While the showers were on, the cow accidentally touched the electric pole and got electrocuted. Usman lodged a complaint against the engineer in-charge of the MSEDC sub-station in the area. An offence under section 429 of the IPC (killing animal worth above Rs 50) was registered against the erring engineer, police added.
