Manohar to prepare 3,000 kg tarri poha today, eyes record

Nagpur: The scintillating aroma of spicy Tarri Poha will engulf Bajaj Nagar this morning as celebrity chef Vishnu Manohar attempts a unique world record by preparing a humongous 3,000 kg of Nagpur's iconic breakfast delicacy on occasion of World Poha Day. The mega culinary event, being organised at Vishnuji Ki Rasoi, in collaboration with The Times of India and Maharashtra Times, is expected to draw thousands of food lovers eager to witness one of the city's biggest food celebrations. Preparations for the massive cooking exercise began in the early hours of Sunday, with giant utensils, tonnes of ingredients and a large team working to transform the humble breakfast into a global spectacle.Following the record attempt, the tarri poha will be distributed free to citizens between 6.30-9.30am. Complimentary tea will also be served by Mahachai.Deeply woven into Nagpur's identity, tarri poha is a distinctive variation of traditional poha topped with a spicy curry-like gravy known as ‘tarri', usually made using seasoned chickpeas or black peas. The dish has evolved beyond a breakfast item to become a symbol closely associated with the city.
