Nagpur: On Monday,
Congress MLA from Saoner Sunil Kedar met Joint CP Rajvardhan and demanded action against corruption in the crime branch which had allegedly transpired during the arms seizure action last week. Kedar handed over a complaint prepared by social worker Udaysingh Yadav to him.
Yadav has alleged that Rs 2 lakhs was demanded from 22-year-old Amrendrasingh Bagga for not framing him in the case handled by assistant PI Amol Kale, constable Jayanta Shelot and others.
Bagga was illegally detained by police for 48 hours.
Police had claimed that Bagga was picked up following the interrogation of Sallu alias Feroze who worked for arms dealer Mustaque Ashrafi. Sallu had claimed having sold firearms to Bagga.
Yadav also charged the police to having enjoyed a feast at Bagga’s dabha in Kamptee before arresting him.
“We do not mind action against real culprits but there should be no fake actions,” he said.
Joint CP Rajvardhan said that department would probe into the allegations.
