NCTE oversight leaves college high and dry
NAGPUR: Shantiniketan Women's College of Education (SWCE) has clarified that it has all the requisite permissions from NCTE to run DEd, BEd and MEd courses. When SWCE applied for permission to move its college to a new building, the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) had said the building plan was approved only for DEd and not BEd, and noted the objection for the record.

However, advocate Ejaz Ahmed, secretary of the body which manages the college, said, "All papers were sent but it was probably an oversight by NCTE. We also saw it on the NCTE website. We have permission to run DEd, BEd and MEd courses at our college. The NCTE did not go through all the paperwork we sent. However, now things have moved on, as they themselves have realized their mistake. We have already received a letter from NCTE saying an inspection team will arrive shortly to approve the new building."
