Nagpur: In a historic spiritual initiative, the Pandharpur to London International Dindi (Palkhi Yatra), one of the largest global religious processions ever undertaken, commenced its journey on April 15 from the sacred town of Pandharpur. The yatra will reach Nagpur on Wednesday as part of its remarkable 18,000-km, 70-day journey across 22 countries.
This grand initiative is being led by UK-based entrepreneurs Tushar Gadikar and Anil Khedkar, both originally from Nagpur. Anil Khedkar is heading the yatra, which symbolises the deep spiritual and cultural connection between India and the global Indian diaspora. The yatra also marks the beginning of an ambitious project to establish a magnificent replica of the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir of Pandharpur in London, UK, in the coming years.
On April 16, the sacred Padukas (holy footwear symbolising Lord Vitthal) will arrive in Nagpur and will be kept for public darshan from 6pm to 9pm at Vishnuji Ki Rasoi, Bajaj Nagar. A prasad distribution ceremony will also take place during the event, informed Vishnu Manohar and Mohan Pandey, India coordinators of the temple committee.
As part of the Nagpur leg of the yatra, a special kirtan by Mrunmayee Kulkarni has been organised to enhance the spiritual atmosphere. Additionally, Sandeep Joshi will be present for the Paduka Pujan ceremony, adding further significance to the occasion.
After Nagpur, the yatra will proceed towards Nepal on April 18, and from there it will travel through China, Russia, and various parts of Europe, ultimately culminating in London. The journey, being undertaken by car, will cover spiritual and cultural landmarks across continents.
Several individuals and groups have come together to ensure the success of the Nagpur event, including Pravin Manohar, Milind Deshkar, Vijay Jithe, Pravin Deshkar, Suhas Kulkarni, Utkarsh Khopkar, Manish Shah, and entrepreneurs from Nagpur and Manchester (UK) such as Sangram Wagh.
