Sole breadwinner lost, Chute family shattered after 20-yr-old stabbed to death in Dharampeth
Nagpur: The small house of Chute family in Hudkeshwar has fallen silent — except for the cries of a grieving mother who has not stopped mourning since her only son was brought home lifeless. Tushar Chute, 20, an engineering student who was allegedly stabbed to death by two minors in Dharampeth late Monday night, was not just a college-going youth with dreams of becoming an engineer. For his family, he was their only son, their emotional support and the sole earning member doing small odd-time jobs to keep the household expenses moving. When TOI visited the family on Tuesday, scenes of unbearable grief unfolded inside the modest residence. Relatives sat in stunned silence as neighbours and friends poured in to console the shattered parents, who are still struggling to comprehend how a late-night outing ended with their son being murdered on a road.Tushar's mother was too devastated to speak. Every attempt to console her dissolved into uncontrollable sobbing. She repeatedly asked one question through tears — "What was my son's fault?" Family members said she has not slept even for a minute since learning about the murder and continues to break down every few moments. The victim's father, emotionally exhausted after completing the funeral rituals, remained largely silent as relatives handled visitors and formalities. The family performed Tushar's last rites on Tuesday evening before immersing his ashes in the Beena River, bidding farewell to a young life.Relatives described Tushar as a sincere and hardworking student who quietly carried his responsibilities. While pursuing his engineering degree, he reportedly took up part-time gigs to financially support the family. "He wanted to complete his studies, get a stable job and improve his family's future." Friends who gathered outside the residence struggled to process the brutality of the incident. Several broke down while recalling the final hours they spent with him. "What was his fault?" one of his friends asked. "He was just out with friends, laughing and enjoying like any normal youngster. Within minutes, everything was over."For Chute family, however, the public anger offers little comfort. Their home now stands filled with unfinished dreams, abandoned textbooks and the unbearable absence of the son who walked out for a casual night with friends — and never returned.
