NAGPUR: With students allegedly not cooperating with the police during interrogations, there has not been any progress in the probe by Jaripatka police into abetment of a 15-year-old girl’s suicide by a principal and four teachers.
Six days ago, the principal and teachers of Gurunanak High School and Junior College were booked for abetment of suicide of a school student, 15-year-old Oseen Ganvir, a standard XII student. Ganvir had mentioned the names of the principal and three teachers in her suicide note. She had written that she was taking the extreme step due to harassment in college.
Ganvir had hanged herself on May 5 at her Bezonbagh residence after her school principal and teachers complained about her mischievous activities to her parents. It has been learnt that the school staff had asked her parents to find another school for her. The same notice was sent to parents of four other girls with whom Ganvir was allegedly present in all the mischiefs.
API NV Niswade, the investigating officer in the case, said he had taken statements of more than 10 students from Ganvir’s class but nobody gave a negative statement against the alleged accused.
“Two of her four friends, who were also given notice by the college, were interrogated but they were frightened and hesitating to give a statement. The other two have gone out of town,” said Niswade. He informed that the other two girls are returning in a few days and their detailed statements will be taken later.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by Amit Ganvir, father of the deceased.
Police sources informed that many students claimed that they had no idea whether Ganvir and others were given notice or not.
Ganvir was not allowed to sit in the extra class a day before her suicide, and was asked to first call her parents. She committed suicide the day her parents came to school and heard the complaint about her.
