25-year-old killed in hit-and-run on Nashik-Mumbai highway flyover
Nashik: A 25-year-old man died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in a hit-and-run accident on the Nashik-Mumbai highway flyover, between Indiranagar and Bali Mandir, the police said. The victim, Premraj Badgujar from Hanuman Nagar in Adgaon, succumbed to his injuries on Monday after sustaining severe head trauma in the crash.The incident occurred around noon on May 7 near Prakash petrol pump while Badgujar was riding his scooter from Pathardi Phata towards Dwarka. A speeding vehicle allegedly struck him from behind and fled the scene.Following a complaint by his uncle, Hiralal Badgujar, the Adgaon police have registered a case against an unknown driver and launched a search. Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the vehicle and trace the accused.The police said the accident has once again raised concerns over safety on elevated corridors in the city. They have issued a fresh appeal urging motorists to strictly follow traffic rules, especially on flyovers.The Nashik police also indicated that surveillance and enforcement on the stretch will be intensified to prevent such incidents.
