NASHIK: Volunteers of the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Nyas, the Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Samiti and others staged a day-long sit-in agitation opposite the district collectorate on Tuesday, expressing their support to
Anna Hazare, who is on fast unto death to press the government for immediate passage of the Jan Lokpal Bill in the parliament.
"We have gathered here to express our support to Anna Hazare, who has started a fast at Ralegan Siddhi, Ahmednagar.
We will agitate again from December 13, besides visiting schools and other organisations seeking their support to join the movement to stop corruption in the country," Hemant Kawde of the Nyas said. The organisation has prepared a programme for the agitation, which will be carried out by the workers in Nashik.
The supporters will go on a huger strike from December 17, before which, the supporters have been given various other activities to create an atmosphere conducive for the agitation.
To begin with, the supporters will go around schools, colleges and women self-help groups distributing leaflets about the Jan Lokpal and seek their support for the agitations. This will be followed by a sit-in agitation in front of the Talathi offices on December 12 and another in front of the tehsil office on December 13.
On December 14, the sit-in agitations will be held around the district with the help of like-minded organizations and institutions in favour of the passage of the Jan Lokpal bill. The signature campaign and a padayatra will be held on the evening of December 15.
"We will hold a rasta roko and a civil disobedience on December 16, and from December 17, we will sit on an indefinite fast," Kawde said, discussing the details of the programme.
