Nashik: An MRI machine brought two years back for the new Bytco Hospital has been gathering dust as it could not be put to use due to lack of trained personnel.
Jagdish Pawar, a former corpor ator, said that the cost of the MRI machine is estimated at around Rs 17 crore. It is lying idle due to lack of radiologists and technicians.
“As MRI machines are non-operational, patients have to go to private hospitals for MRI.
We have been demanding the civic administration for the past two years to start MRI facilities for the benefit of the city residents,” said Pawar.
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) had procured an MRI and a CT scan machine around two years back.
