Nashik: Three young boys from the same family drowned in a pond alongside the Narmada river, in Gaman (Kelipada) village of Akkalkuwa taluka in Nandurbar, on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.Assistant inspector Dharamraj Patale, of the Molgi police station, said, “A group of children had gone to the pond near the river to take a bath around 2pm. The three boys — aged five, six and seven years — reportedly failed to gauge the depth of the water and started drowning. Seeing them in trouble, the other children in the group began shouting for help. However, by the time villagers reached the spot, the three boys had already drowned.The deceased have been identified as Sunil Vasave (5), Shubham Vasave (6), and Nitesh Vasave (7).Police personnel from the Mogli police station visited the spot after being alerted, and conducted a panchanama. The bodies were later sent to the Molgi rural hospital for postmortem.Patale said the three children belonged to the same family and their house was located barely 200m from the pond. “Children in the area often frequent the water body for bathing,” he added.A case of accidental death was registered at the Molgi police station late on Tuesday night.
