NAVI MUMBAI: Civic commissioner Dinesh Waghmare has been transferred to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Solapur collector Tukaram Mundhe will take charge from him shortly.
“I am wrapping up pending work to move to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). I have served Navi Mumbai in a friendly atmosphere in the past 15 months and did not anticipate this sudden transfer,” Waghmare told TOI.

The current civic chief had prepared the blueprint for Smart City contest despite opposition from ruling NCP.
Known to be a strict officer, Mundhe (41) is a 2005 batch IAS officer of Mahrashtra cadre.
“Mundhe is a stickler for rules and his arrival is going to be a concern for those involved in malpractices within NMMC,” said Shiv Sena corporator, Kishor Patkar.
The ruling party, too, seems upbeat over the change of guard. “We have the infrastructure in place so the next step is to utilize the resources for the city. An upright officer in the role of the civic chief will ensure efficiency,” said standing committee chairperson, Netra Shirke.
