NAVI MUMBAI: The
murder case of Meenakshi Jaiswal, from Kharghar has taken a new turn. A police official working on the case has revealed that the key conspirator of the murder is Surendra Kumar Batra, along with
Vinayak Chavan. The two other accused, Maninder Bajwa and Suraj Jaiswal, were working for Batra. Earlier Chavan was considered to be the mastermind behind the crime.
According to the police source, the victim had given a loan to a person for whom Batra and Chavan had stood as guarantors. “But when she demanded the money back, Batra and Chavan decided to murder her. The duo was also aware that the victim lived alone and possessed a lot of gold. So they masterminded the crime and engaged Bajwa and Jaiswal to execute it,” said the official. Investigating officer P P Patil did not respond to calls related to the case so far.
But Kharghar police have claimed that only four men were involved in the murder and their arrest has completed the circle of investigation. Advocate Jagdish Borde-Patil, a family friend of the Jaiswals, said that the cops need to nvestigate more as there is a possibility of more accused being involved in the crime.
