NAVI MUMBAI: Mayor Sagar Naik on Tuesday sanctioned an additional Rs 150 crore to the annual budget, taking it to Rs 2,100.3 crore. The civic body has allocated a further Rs 75 crore to amenities such as roads, footpaths and drains, the total sum allocated to roads is now Rs 341.3 crore, compared to Rs 263.1 crore last year.
The civic body has also drafted in Rs 12 crore for construction of memorials in the city.
Ironically, the final budget was sanctioned without thorough discussion as neither the ruling
NCP corporators nor the opposition and rival party corporators took part in the budget discussion which has raised the eyebrows of the political analysts.
On the other hand, only the co-opted member of the NCP spoke in the civic assembly by giving his suggestions which was readily accepted by the presiding chair, Mayor Sagar Naik, who declared that the final civic budget has been sanctioned unanimously.
