NAVI MUMBAI: There was panic at New Horizon Public School in Sector 19, Airoli after fire smoke started emanating from the electricity meter cabin after a minor blast in the transformer as a crow perched on the transformer''s cable resulting in short circuit in the electricity meter room on Wednesday morning during the school hours.
The school management immediately evacuated all the students from the school building as a preventive safety measure.
Sandesh Channe, sub-fire officer from Airoli fire station said, "Around 9.15am, we received an emergency call from the school staff informing that fire smoke was emanating from the electricity meter cabin.”
“While our fire fighting rescue team was on the way to the school building, we received another call within a couple of minutes informing that the situation was under control as the electricity supply was immediately disconnected and there was no fire outbreak. Still, our team reached the spot and when inspected it was found that the fire smoke was due to a short circuit in the electricity cable in the meter room and there was no major damage. Also, all school students and staff were safe, as all of them immediately exited the school building,” he added.
