Shiv Sena's Navi Mum chief coordinator gives Rs 5 lakh to woman who lost one leg in rly mishap
NAVI MUMBAI: Shiv Sena's (Eknath Shinde faction) Navi Mumbai chief coordinator and ex-corporator Kishor Patkar has lend a helping hand of Rs 5 lakhs to the 20-year-old housemaid Rohini Bote, who had on July 8 lost her one leg as she fainted and fell on the tracks while waiting for a train at CBD-Belapur station.
Patkar has assured the woman's husband Rajesh Bote that he will follow up with the chief minister Eknath Shinde for seeking financial aid to support his wife's medical treatment through Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Patkar has also helped a senior photojournalist in Navi Mumbai Nandu Kurne by giving Rs 1 lakhs, after learning that Kurne has been hospitalised for treatment of heart ailment.
While, the victim woman Bote's right leg had to be amputated at MGM hospital, Belapur, where she was admitted, the orthopaedic surgeon Dr Hrishikesh Patil informed that the patient's leg leg has been saved from being amputated and the leg's plastic surgery has been done. However, Bote's amputated right leg can be fitted with a prosthetic leg for enabling her to walk on both legs, but her husband needs to take the decision.
Kishor Patkar said, "After learning about the woman's tragic incident on Belapur railway tracks, I visited her Taloja house and met her husband and consoled him. I handed over to him Rs 5 lakhs to meet the medical expenses for her treatment."
When contacted, the victim woman's husband Rajesh Bote, who works as a housekeeping staff at a bank said, "The Rs 5 lakhs given by Shiv Sena chief coordinator Kishor Patkar is indeed a huge financial support for paying the hospital bill, as till Saturday, the hospital bill was around Rs 2.50 lakhs. Even Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre has taken up the issue in the monsoon assembly for seeking financial aid from the state government for treatment of my wife. Also, I have received some contribution of financial help from the well-wishers in our community."
