NOIDA: In order to compensate for the loss of revenue because of closure on elections and holidays, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) has decided to cancel all public holidays in April. The Gautam Budh Nagar ARTO has a target to collect Rs 23 crore as revenue in April and it has so far managed to collect only Rs 10 crores.
"In April the department has a target to generate Rs 23 crore revenue but due to elections and holidays, it was difficult," RachnaYaduvanshi, ARTO administrator, said.
Transport officials said that this will also facilitate people availing services at the department. "A large number of people come for tax payment, acquiring driving licence and its renewal. Availability of officials in the office will help the customers in these processes." Yaduvanshi said.
The ARTO had earlier launched its online payment of taxes of commercial vehicles which is being provided by 45 banks.
