NOIDA: A 5-year-old child was allegedly kidnapped and attacked with a sharp knife by his neighbour in Sector 112, leaving him with slit wounds on his neck, face and legs. Police have registered a murder attempt case and launched an investigation.
The complainant, Ranjeet Verma, a Gonda resident living in Sector 112, said Deepak Chaurasia, who lives in his neighbourhood, kidnapped his son and injured him.
The complainant and the accused have an old enmity, said cops. Verma said that nearly 7-8 days ago, Chaurasia got into a verbal spat with his wife.
"When my wife told me about it, I didn't give it importance or report it to the police. On Monday, at 10.30 am, Chaurasia came outside my house on his bike. My 8-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were playing outside the house. Chaurasia kidnapped my son and took him on the bike. When my daughter tried to stop him, he pushed her away," said Verma. Hearing the children scream, Verma's wife rushed outside the house and alerted others.
"Initially, we looked for Chaurasia in the locality and nearby areas. At 11.30 am, Chaurasia called my wife, saying my son was with him, and then switched off his phone. At 12.30 pm, we called the 112 emergency helpline number and the police. Half an hour later, we received information about a five-year-old child admitted to CHC Bhangel for treatment. I rushed there and saw the child was my son," Verma said.
Police told Verma the boy was lying injured near a cremation ground in Bhuda village. "I took my son to Yatharth Hospital. Chaurasia allegedly kidnapped my son to kill him. We demand strict action against him," Verma said.
Police filed an FIR under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 363 (kidnapping) against Chaurasia at Sector 113 police station.
"The child is out of danger now. We have formed teams to arrest the accused. We are scanning CCTV footage from the area. Some old enmity has come to light between the two parties. We are working on all angles," said AC (Noida) Saumya Singh.
