NOIDA: The Noida auto union has decided to protest outside the office of the assistant regional transport officer on May 26, against alleged corruption in the department.
Auto union president Chaudhary Om Prakash claimed to have received numerous complaints from autorickshaw drivers and commuters about the problems they face in getting works done because of the presence of touts at the transport office. "Getting work done through touts is easier and people have no option but to pay extra money to get a driving license, permit renewal, vehicle fitness certificate among others," said Om Prakash.
Rejecting the union's allegations, ARTO (administration) Rachna Yaduvanshi said, "We have recently installed 5 sophisticated CCTV cameras at our officer premises to ensure a transparent service. The allegations of the auto union
are untrue. We also know nothing about the protest."
