NOIDA-GREATER NOIDA: Residents and RWA bodies celebrated 71st Republic Day across sectors in Noida and Greater Noida on Sunday. While residents hoisted the national flag, children staged shows with Hindu-Muslim solidarity, engaged in painting competition on social subjects and sang the national anthem.
A free health check-up camp was organised on the occasion in Meghdootam Park for residents of sectors 50, 51 and neighbouring areas.

Sector 19 RWA organised a free eye check-up camp in the sector’s community centre on the occasion.
Even as district MP, MLAs and local leaders sent out greetings to all residents on the occasion, the district magistrate GB Nagar recalled collective progress of the district citing achievements of Jewar greenfield airport, farmers’ willingness and collaboration in land acquisition for the airport, eastern peripheral expressway and conducive law and order of the district.
While MP Mahesh Sharma, former minister Nawab Singh Nagar, Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar greeted residents of GB Nagar on the occasion and called for national unity, integrity and fraternity to celebrate the world's largest democracy, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh along with UP cabinet minister Suresh Rana, district magistrate BN Singh and police commissioner Alok Singh participated in Republic Day celebrations and parade at the Surajpur collectorate where Rana was the chief guest.
Samajwadi party's local wing also celebrated the occasion. While Subay Yadav former city president Samajwadi Party Noida wing sent out greetings on the occasion, district spokesperson Raghvendra Dubey hoisted the national flag at their Nithari office. “Wishing all of you countrymen a happy 71st Republic Day,” said Yadav.
While children from century apartment sector 100 staged a show on religious tolerance of Hindu-Muslim-Sikh solidarity, residents of Parasvnath Prestige Society sector 93A had slum children participate in their celebrations.

Dharmendra Sharma RWA president B3 Aravali Apartments sector 34 raised awareness on various issues through sloganeering messages including ‘cleanliness as a service, water for tomorrow, waste segregation, say no to single use plastic, environmental protection, pollution control and obey traffic rules, etc,' children of the sector participated in painting competition on social concern subject.
In Greater Noida, residents participated in flag hoisting events from 8 am onwards. While Rajesh Bhati, RWA president Swarn Nagari Greater Noida hoisted the national flag in the central park of the sector, residents of sector Delta 1 felicitated ex-servicemen on the occasion followed by cultural programme by children of the sector.
Interestingly, in sector Pi 3 residents woke up to only one hour of water supply on Sunday dampening their celebratory fervour, while in sectors Beta 1, 2, Alpha, Gamma and more, residents held flag hoisting celebrations across their sectors from early morning even as about 240 children participated in Republic Day celebrations in sector Omicron 2 “where those who’d excelled in sports at district, state and national levels were felicitated on the occasion,” said Satish Bhati RWA president sector Omicron 2.
While national flag was hoisted for the first time in Savitri Market sector 18, traders of the market participated in the celebrations with gusto. Industries too held flag hoisting event on the occasion with Noida Entrepreneurs’ Association at the helm of festivities.
Residents bodies including Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) under president Yogendra Sharma marked the occasion in their office in sector 52 by flag hoisting, District Development Residents Welfare Associations (DDRWA) under president NP Singh celebrated in sector 35.
District magistrate BN Singh participated in the national anthem and flag hoisting ceremony at the Surajpur collectorate. Addressing officials at the collectorate he called for discharge of duties and responsibilities with full devotion so that the development of India, state and the district can be achieved. “Big schemes such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Greenfield airport at Jewar etc. are being materialized in the district with the cooperation of the public especially the farmers, so that the development of the district progresses more rapidly,” said Singh who added that whenever there are adverse situations in the district, the people here have fully cooperated with the administration.
26th January also marked a special day for Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) as exactly one year back, commercial operations of the Aqua Line Corridor commenced and on Sunday, NMRC completed one year of its successful operations.
Celebrating the occasion, Ritu Maheshwari, MD/NMRC hoisted the national flag at its head office in Ganga Shopping complex Noida along with officials PD Upadhyay ED/NMRC, Manoj Vajpayee general manager and RK Saxena COO Noida-Greater Noida NMRC. A cultural programme by children followed the flagging of 4.2 km half marathon which commenced from NMRC head office to Noida Stadium, Sector 21A Noida.
Apart from this, residents of sectors 50, 51, 52, 55, 56, 30, 34, 19, 20, 24, 25, 28, 29, 119, 120, 100, 108, 93 and more held various cultural programmes and felicitations of meritorious children and resident on the occasion as they took part in flag hoisting ceremonies across their sectors and carried out cleanliness drives on the occasion in some areas.
