GHAZIABAD: Three cops were suspended by SSP Hari Narayan Singh on Wednesday for alleged derelication of duty in detaining a youth for questioning and later letting him go without informing seniors.
The cops – SSI Manish Chauhan and constables Sachin Laur and Deepak – had picked up Pankaj Kumar from his home in Jawli village of Loni earlier this month.
Kumar’s family alleged that the three cops allegedly released him after payment of a bribe.

Kumar, a suspect in a loot case in Delhi, was found dead with three gunshot injuries in a vacant field in Garhi Sibli village on November 19.
“The three cops did not inform the local police station in Loni about detaining the youth. There were procedural lapses in the manner in which the youth was detained and later released. The cops have been suspended with immediate effect,” Singh told TOI.
