NOIDA: Cab aggregator
Uber is all set to launch bike taxis in
Noida. The company has already applied for registration of seven bike taxis with the transport department. According to Rachna Yaduvanshi, ARTO (administration), they applied for registration on Thursday.
“They have got permits for these bikes from RTO, Ghaziabad. They applied for registration with ARTO Noida.
We will analyse their applications and issue them registration and fitness certificates,” said Yaduvanshi. The bike taxis will be registered in the category of commercial vehicles. The vehicle owners will have to pay commercial taxes quarterly.
The UP transport department gave a nod for registration of commercial bike taxis in January 2017. However, the department did not get suitable applicants for the scheme.
Apurv Jalan, regional head, ONN Bikes, a bike rental company, said his company has collaborated with Uber for this service in Noida. “We have bought new bikes for this purpose. We are in the process of their registration with the transport department. Uber will get these bikes run by riders,” Jalan said. People will be able to book bike taxis through the app of the company.
