256 youths selected at job fair in Buxar, 14 companies participated
Buxar: A total of 256 youths secured jobs at an job-cum-guidance fair organised under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) at Chaugain village in Dumraon subdivision, Buxar, on Friday. Fourteen companies participated, and over 1,000 candidates registered both online and offline.
At the fair, 875 youths registered on the spot, of whom 256 were selected directly. Another 210 candidates registered online. Appointment letters were distributed to the selected candidates at the venue.
Among those selected was 28-year-old Parmanand, an IT engineer from Navanagar village, who left for Tatanagar, Jharkhand, on Saturday after securing a job with a private commercial vehicle manufacturer.
District magistrate (DM) Sahila, who inaugurated the event, said Jeevika has been consistently working to empower women by linking them with govt schemes and promoting self-reliance. “Efforts will be intensified to connect Jeevika members with more welfare schemes to ensure their economic and mental empowerment, and greater participation in regional development,” she said, urging youths to make full use of the free skill training and employment support available under DDU-GKY.
Dumraon SDM Rakesh Kumar described the fair as an effective single platform for training, employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship, and advised candidates to remain confident and committed to learning.
Buxar district project manager of Jeevika, Daya Nidhi Chaubey, said the organisation is working to increase the income of Jeevika-linked families by offering skill development and job opportunities to unemployed youth. “This fair is a strong step towards a self-reliant Bihar and an empowered rural society,” he said.
Sharing his experience, Sudhir Singh, selected by a security service agency, said he received his appointment letter the same day. Asha Devi, selected as a fourth-grade employee with a major soft drink company in Navanagar, said Jeevika has brought training and job opportunities closer to villages, boosting confidence among rural youth.
Jeevika employment manager Bhole Nath Pandey said 374 people have so far received jobs through Jeevika job fairs in the district. “This was the fourth job fair held at Chaugain village. Around 1.75 lakh Jeevika ‘didis’ are working in Buxar district through 14,043 self-help groups,” he added.
