3 criminals held in Bhagalpur’s Naugachhia
Bhagalpur: In a crackdown against criminals, two criminals were arrested from Ismailpur police station area, and another was held from Jhandapur police station area in Naugachhia police district of Bhagalpur on Friday evening.
In Ismailpur, police are probing whether the two criminals are part of some organised gang or they were on the way to commit a crime. The arrested criminals were identified as Shivam Kumar, son of Vedanand Mandal, a resident of Ismailpur (Naugachhia), and Mukesh Mishra, son of Vakil Mishra, of Shambhuganj in Banka district. "Both were arrested while trying to flee from the spot. One loaded country-made pistol, seven live cartridges, one cellphone and a bike were seized from their possession," said Puran Kumar Jha, SP of Naugachia police district in Bhagalpur.
The SP said one of the criminals, Shivam Kumar, is a history-sheeter, and has several cases of murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act lodged in Naugachhia and Ismailpur police stations. Whereas a fresh case under sections 25 (1-b), 26/35 Arms Act has been lodged against the two arrested criminals, added the SP.
The SP praised the police team members from Ismailpur police station, including sub-inspectors Ranjit Kumar, Kamrul Hooda and others, for raids against the criminals. He said all efforts would be made to make Naugachhia crime-free.
Similarly, one Gujesh Chowdhary, son of Sacchidanand Chowdhary, resident of Jairampur village under Jhandapur PS in Naugachhia police district, was arrested under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise (Amendment) Act, 2022 by the police team. Chowdhary was found drunk at the time of his arrest.
