5-year-old man shot dead by son over property dispute in Nalanda
Biharsharif: A 55-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his son over an property dispute at Tufanganj village under Bhagan Bigha police outpost in Nalanda district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bachchu Paswan, son of late Dharam Singh Paswan.
According to police and family members, the accused, identified as Pawan Paswan, allegedly called his father out of the house before opening fire at him. The bullet shot Bachchu in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured. Family members, assisted by local police, rushed him to Biharsharif Model Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Soon after receiving information, Sadar DSP-2 Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal along with Bhagan Bigha police reached the village and began investigation. An FSL team was also called to collect forensic evidence from the spot.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly shot by his son following a property dispute. The accused is absconding and raids are underway to arrest him,” the DSP said, adding that the situation in the village was under control.
The victim’s wife, Gulabi Devi, alleged that Pawan, her stepson, had been at loggerheads with the family over property issues for several years. She claimed that although he had already been given a separate house and land, he continued to demand a larger share in the ancestral property.
“Pawan came home on Wednesday and spoke normally with his father. Bachchu even offered him water and sherbet before stepping outside with him. Moments later, he fired at him,” she alleged.
Pawan is son from Bachchu’s first marriage, and had been living separately at Netar village under Khusrupur police station in Patna district area for the past eight years, she said.
