GAYA: Police have stumbled upon spine-chilling details of the Golu kidnap case with his teenaged kidnappers revealing that the body of the five-year-old, whom they killed and dumped in the Falgu riverbed soon after the abduction, was eaten by stray dogs.
Golu, son of scrap dealer Jitendra Prasad, was abducted on December 22 last year and, according to the abductors, strangled to death within hours.
The kidnappers then demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh from his father.
Kidnappers Anshul and Ravi have since been arrested. Acting on their revelations, a police party reached the Falgu riverbed on Monday to recover the body. However, it could only find Golu's clothes. Locals told police they saw a child's limbs being eaten by street dogs a few days ago.
Gaya SSP Amit Lodha, while claiming to have solved the gory case, said Anshul was the main culprit. A tenant in the house of Golu's father, he had been recently asked to vacate the house.
Asked about the motive, the SSP said the lure for lucre and the tenancy dispute were the twin causes. Golu was killed as the kidnappers feared identification. About Ravi, the other accused, the SSP said he was a friend of Anshul.
The macabre tale told by the kid's kidnappers came as a shock for Gayaites. An angry crowd even wanted the two criminals to be publicly lynched.
