Arrest warrant issued against Paroo BJP MLA in assault case

A non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued against Paroo MLA Ashok Kumar Singh and his brother, Manoj Kumar Singh, on Thursday by the court of first class judicial magistrate, Muzaffarpur, Santosh Kumar, in connection with an assault case of 2004 registered with Saraiya police station.

MUZAFFARPUR: A non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued against Paroo MLA Ashok Kumar Singh and his brother, Manoj Kumar Singh, on Thursday by the court of first class judicial magistrate, Muzaffarpur, Santosh Kumar, in connection with an assault case of 2004 registered with Saraiya police station.
One, Sunil Kumar Singh of Chhitni village under Saraiya police station had lodged an FIR alleging that he, in the capacity of the then secretary of All India Kisan Majdoor Sangh, had organized a dharna and demonstration at Saraiya on September 11, 2004, when the MLA and his supporters had attacked and assaulted him and his associates.

The MLA and his brother did not appear in the court even after due information. This compelled the court to issue non-bailable warrant of arrest against the BJP MLA.
Incidentally, the MLA had been in the news for repeatedly informing the police that he had received threats from the Maoists thrice during the last couple of years on his failure to pay "levy" to them.
