Train derails in Bihar

Twenty-three coaches of Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed in Bihar's Buxar on Wednesday resulting in four deaths. Ambulances and doctors were rushed to the spot as over 30 suffered injuries in the incident.

Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for victims

The Indian Railways has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family members of deceased, and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Injured getting treatment in local hospitals

The injured people were undergoing treatment at hospitals mostly in Buxar town and Ara. Ten injured passengers were taken to AIIMS-Patna.

Five passengers critical

A statement issued by the ECR said that while five passengers were critically injured, 25 received minor injuries.

High level inquiry ordered

A high-level inquiry has been ordered by railways into the accident.

Relief train leaves for Assam

Passengers of the train bound for Kamakhya in Guwahati in Assam, who were in a position to undertake the onward journey, boarded a relief train in the early hours of Thursday.

Many trains diverted/cancelled

At least 21 trains operating on the route have been either diverted or cancelled due to the accident.

Railway minister expresses condolences

Expressing condolences for the loss of lives, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on X, "Will find the root cause of derailment."
