Boy dies, two hurt in Sheikhpura road accident
Biharsharif: A 16-year-old boy died and two others were injured after being hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle while returning from a nine-day religious fair in Sheikhpura district late Friday night, police said.
The incident occurred near Belhari village under Kasar police station area of the district. The deceased has been identified as Kundan Kumar, a resident of Sohdi village under Mahuli police station area. He was the youngest son of Rambalak Yadav, a migrant worker currently engaged in Mumbai.
According to reports, Kundan had gone to the fair along with two other teenagers from his village—Shivam Kumar, son of Sanjay Sao, and Nitish Kumar, son of Nawal Kumar. The three were returning home on foot when a speeding motorcycle hit them near a culvert in front of Revta Plus Two High School, between Mahuli and Raghunathpur villages.
All three sustained serious injuries in the accident. On receiving information, a police team led by Mahuli SHO Ram Pravesh Bharti rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Sheikhpura Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Kundan dead.
Bharti said the body was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem. Further action will be taken upon receipt of a formal complaint, he added.
Panchayat samiti member Paras Kumar said the victim’s family is economically weak, so he demanded govt compensation for the bereaved family. Meanwhile, Kundan’s father has boarded a train to return home after being informed of the incident.
