PATNA: A 16-year-old boy allegedly killed his 70-year-old grandmother using ‘lodha’, a traditional spice grinder stone, at Lodipur under Buddha Colony police station here on Sunday. The youth was later arrested and sent to juvenile justice home.
SHO of Buddha Colony police station Manoj Mohan said the victim, Munni Devi, had an altercation with her daughter-in-law Priyanka Devi (38) at their residence when the boy, in a fit of rage, picked up the stone used for grinding spices and smashed the head of his grandmother.
“She was rushed to a private hospital from where the doctors referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital. The elderly woman succumbed to her injuries at PMCH,” Mohan said, adding that the boy’s father, Uday Shankar Yadav, later lodged an FIR against his son. Uday was not present at home when the incident occurred.
The SHO said the family somehow managed to meet the ends with the help of a small hotel run by Uday. He said Munni told Uday before breathing her last that she was attacked by her grandson with a ‘lodha’.
“Deep injury marks were visible on the forehead and back head of the deceased,” the SHO said, adding that the woman’s body was handed over to her family members after post-mortem.
