Bridges on Mahananda, Falgu in the offing

patna: chief minister rabri devi announced on thursday that two bridges -- one on the mahananda in katihar and another on the falgu on the ghosi-khudaganj road -- would be constructed soon. besides, an overbridge and an approach road near the bhagalpur railway station would also be built. the announcements were made during the inauguration of the chiraiyatand-karbigahia-gaya gumti concrete road and the southern end of the bhikhari thakur setu.she also laid the foundation stones of an overbridge and approach road to the patna-mithapur railway crossing no. 79a. she said that the construction work on the mardahi ghat bridge on the budhi gandak on the samastipur-darbhanga road was in progress while the vikramshila setu on the ganga in bhagalpur and the daroga prasad rai setu in rewaghat had already been inaugurated. speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, rjd chief laloo prasad yadav said that bihar had not yet received the economic package from the centre as a compensation for the division of the state. he also said that an initiative should be taken by the centre for a special economic package to compensate the damages caused by the floods sparked by river in nepal. managing director of the pul nirman nigam baidyanath ram, deputy chief engineer anup singh and five other engineers of the corporation were honoured by the cm on the occasion.
