Carmelites pay tributes to Nirbhaya

Young girls of Carmel High School (CHS) paid tributes to Nirbhaya through a play 'Tumko na bhool payenge', exhorting citizens to raise their voice on crime against women, at their annual function held on the school campus on Wednesday evening.

PATNA: Young girls of Carmel High School (CHS) paid tributes to Nirbhaya through a play 'Tumko na bhool payenge', exhorting citizens to raise their voice on crime against women, at their annual function held on the school campus on Wednesday evening. The theme of the event was 'Empowerment of women'.
Supplemented by an apt background tracks and splendid acting, the Hindi play depicted the plight of girls in the Indian society from harassment and molestation on the streets to being blamed for untoward incidents befalling them.

Mesmerizing dances brought folk flavours from all corners of India to the state capital. While the welcome dance showcased a picture perfect blend of Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Manipuri dance styles, the 'pulsating beats' Punjabi dance also evoked thunderous applause from the audience. But no less was the foot tapping 'dandiya raas' on 'Nagada sang dhol baaje' with cartwheel stunts and silver sparkles.
State building construction minister Damodar Rawat was the chief guest.
Other performances put up by the Carmelites included English play 'Are girls' victim of culture and tradition?' on condition of girls in the society, Bengali dance 'Ekla chalo re', Tamil folk dance 'Karagam', soulful action song 'Everything at once', Magahi folk dance 'Gulabi chunariya' depicting the glory of Bihar, Onam boat dance 'Thiruvadira' and the grand finale 'festive moods' won continuous claps from the parents.
School principal Sr M Sujata welcomed the guests.
