<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">SINDRI: Dhanbad Congress MP Chandrashekhar alias Dadai Dubey has held the chief minister responsible for the hooch tragedy and demanded his resignation. More than 25 people died and the CM did not issue a single statement on the incident, which is enough to indicate his insensitiveness, he said.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">The MP also announced a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the kin of the deceased in hooch tragedy.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">RJD district president Sunder Prasad Yadav has alleged that the district administration is protecting big guns running trade of illicit liquor and nabbing only the small ones.
Youth LJP national president K Aasim Khan, who was here to attend a party meeting, also demanded stern action against liquor barons responsible for the incident.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">Condemning the death of poor in the tragedy, RJD national general secretary Aklu Ram Mahto has said it was unfortunate that even after large number of deaths, the chief minister could not find time to visit the bereaved family members.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">The state government instead of punishing the officials responsible for the incident was trying to hush up the issue by saying that the deaths were not due to spurious liquor but because of diarrhoea, he said.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">The MP also called upon the people to teach the government a lesson. Student JD(U) leaders have also demanded an inquiry into the incident and stern action against the officials found responsible for it.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">Meanwhile, crackdown against illicit liquor trade continued in the district and several persons from different parts of the district were apprehended on charges of selling hooch. The police have lodged a case under Excise Act against the owner and manager of KD Liquor and Fertilizer plant at Barwadda namely Prakash Jaiswal and Ashok Jaiswal.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">One truckload of spirit near the plant and thousands of litres of country liquor, raw material for manufacturing liquor and pouches were recovered from the plant when the police raided the godown of the plant.</span></div> </div>
