He said there are reports that these teachers were not getting salaries as their certificates were being verified.
Sinha said the department letter (no. 1737, dated November 30, 2009), had clearly stated that newly-appointed teachers whose certificates have been verified should be paid salaries from the date of their joining. He said that directive was also given to seek affidavits from such candidates whose papers were being verified that their certificates were correct. If their certificates were later found to be fake, then they would not get the salary for the work period and the department would also take legal action against such candidates, he said.
Meanwhile, association president Shatrughan Prasad Singh and general secretary Kedar Nath Pandey said that 7,000 newly appointed teachers were not getting salaries on the pretext that there documents were being verified.
