Eminent artists to perform at Bismillah Khan Mahotsav in Buxar today

Buxar: Several artists will perform at the Ustad Bismillah Khan Mahotsav to be organised on the birth anniversary of the shehnai maestro at Raj High School ground, Dumraon, on Friday. The district administration and the art and culture department, Bihar, are jointly organising the event.
Buxar ADM Kumari Anupam Singh on Thursday visited Dumraon and reviewed the preparation work. Various artists will present cultural programmes and perform with musical instruments like santoor and shehnai in the mahotsav, she said.
Ustad Bismillah Khan Gharana, Sufiyana Group Bhagalpur, famous santoor player Chandrashekhar Kumar, singers Shyama Shailja Jha and Rakesh Raju Sonu, and eminent folk singer Satyendra Sangeet will also participate in the mahotsav.
"Dumraon is the land of art connoisseurs," said Murali Manohar Srivastava, a native of Dumraon town, who has written a book on Bismillah Khan. He has been invited by the art and culture department to the Mahotsav.
Murali is working to establish a university in the name of Ustad. However, CM Nitish Kumar, during his Pragati Yatra recently, announced that a music college would be set up in Dumraon town in the name of Shehnai maestro, who was born on March 21, 1916, in Dumraon.
