PATNA: Gangster-turned-politician and former MP
Anand Mohan, convicted in the murder of the then Gopalganj district magistrate G Krishnaiah in 1994, who was granted parole of 15 days by a local court recently to attend the engagement function of his daughter and look after his ailing mother, could not come out of the Saharsa jail even on Thursday due to delay in paperwork.
“We were hopeful of him coming out of jail on Wednesday itself, but he is yet to be released. Apparently, the closure of the court for a long time due to various festivals has led to procedural delays. We are very disappointed now,” said a close family member of
Anand wishing not to be quoted.
Saharsa district magistrate Anand Sharma said the jailed politician has been granted parole for 15 days. “The local jail superintendent has received a letter from IG, prisons, regarding grant of parole to Anand for 15 days,” Sharma told reporters.
