DARBHANGA: Aeronautical Development Agency’s former director Manas Bihari Verma on Tuesday lamented that no research was being carried out in the universities of Bihar to devise ways to effectively utilize the Peltier effect for practical purposes. It is an electric current-driven transfer of heat from one material to another and can be used in devices like computers, refrigerators, medical equipment, missile launching and several scientific apparatuses.
Addressing students and teachers of C M Science College at a seminar on ‘Peltier Effect and its Applications’ jointly organized by the physics department and Dr Prabhat Das Foundation, an NGO, on the occasion of National Science Day, Verma said, “The Peltier technology can be a new and interesting topic of research for students.
If used judiciously, it has no side effects and can bring about a revolutionary change in the day-to-day lives of common people.”
Lalit Narayan Mithila University VC R K Jha, who inaugurated the seminar, rued students of Bihar had merit, but they lacked an appropriate platform to showcase their talent.
