IG, DIG among nine IPS officers reshuffled in state

Patna: In a minor reshuffle aimed at strengthening police administration, the state govt on Monday transferred nine senior IPS officers from the 2006 to 2018 batches and assigned additional responsibilities to some of them. A notification to this effect was issued by the state home department.

According to the notification, the reshuffle involves officers holding the ranks of inspector general (IG), deputy inspector general (DIG) and commandant.

Pankaj Kumar Raj (2006 batch), IG, civil defence, has been posted as IG, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), and has also been given additional charge of IG, Railways. S Premlatha (2006 batch), IG, technical services and communication, has been transferred as IG, prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, a key post responsible for enforcing prohibition and combating drug-related offences. Sanjay Kumar (2008 batch), IG, special branch, has been assigned additional charge of Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP).

Sudhir Kumar Porika (2010 batch), DIG, Home Guards and Fire Services, has been transferred as DIG, SCRB, Patna. Sushant Kumar Saroj (2012 batch), DIG, Traffic, has been posted as DIG, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Bihar, while continuing to hold charge of the Traffic wing as an additional responsibility.

Deepak Ranjan (2012 batch), DIG, Bihar Police Academy, Rajgir, has been shifted to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) as DIG.

Among other transfers, Kumar Gautam (2011 batch), who returned from interstate deputation in the West Bengal cadre and was awaiting posting, has been appointed commandant of BSAP-5, Patna.

Manish Kumar Sinha (2018 batch), commandant, Special Security Group (SSG), has been posted as commandant, Mounted Special Armed Police, Ara. Ajay Kumar (2018 batch), commandant, BSAP-5, has been transferred as commandant of the Special Security Group (SSG), Patna.

Officials said the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening key policing, intelligence and enforcement wings while ensuring better administrative coordination across departments.
