Patna: Minister for rural work development Ashok Choudhary was handed over his official letter of posting by Patliputra University (PPU) vice-chancellor (VC) Upendra Prasad Singh here on Monday. Choudhary was posted as an assistant professor in the department of political science at A N College, Patna, adding an academic role to his political career.
This appointment follows Choudhary’s selection by the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) for the position in June 2025.
According to PPU registrar Abu Bakar, the posting of the letter handover ceremony which took place at the university headquarters here, saw both Choudhary and the VC acknowledging the importance of education and public service in Bihar’s overall growth and development, he said.
“I am honoured to take on this new role and contribute to the academic community while continuing my duties as the state minister. In fact it is a dream come true for my father late Mahavir Choudhary who always wished to see me as a university teacher,” he said, adding the appointment must be seen as a step in bridging the gap between politics and education.
According to the VC, Choudhary’s selection by the BSUSC has sparked interest as he is known for his involvement in various developmental initiatives in the state.
