PATNA: As Nitish Kumar starts his 'sampark yatra' on Thursday, his former deputy Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday warned the DMs and SPs in different districts against 'receiving' and 'entertaining' the former chief minister as he was no longer the CM but only an MLC. Modi said he has also requested the chief secretary and DGP in this regard.
Modi said unlike Nitish, former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Jagannath Mishra were not getting the same treatment from the DMs and SPs.

He warned the officers to "be careful as a new government will come in the state in the next 11 months. We are taking note of the officers violating protocol to please Nitish. Security entitlement to a former CM should be extended to him, but not more than that."
Modi said when Nitish visited Nalanda during floods this year, over a dozen secretaries had attended his meeting at Biharsharif and DMs and SPs had accompanied him during his tour violating the protocol. "No siren blowing vehicles should be in Nitish's cavalcade nor traffic should be stopped to facilitate the movement of his vehicle," Modi warned. He alleged the JD (U) functionaries in different districts were arranging food for the party workers attending Nitish yatra through the district supply officers and collecting donations from public distribution system (PDS) dealers. Transporters are being forced to arrange free buses to carry JD (U) workers to his meetings, he alleged.
He said Nitish had avoided making contacts (sampark) with the victim families of the Gandhi Maidan tragedy on October 3, 2014, serial blasts at Hoonkar rally on October 27, 2013, Forbesganj police firings, Kurmuri (Bhojpur) gang-rape or children who died in midday meal tragedy in Saran district. Now, he is going on contact visit for election purposes only. "Nitish will not hold public meetings during his yatra due to the fear of the schoolteachers and Aanganwadi workers who were assaulted by police at Patna. He held meetings of district unit presidents of JD (U), its different cells during the last one month to mobilize support for his yatra," he said.
