Much ado about CM's safe air travel
PATNA: In a bizarre case of making a mountain out of a molehill, a section of TV channels on Saturday noon reported a “close shave for chief minister Nitish Kumar as his chopper developed a snag” even though the fliers on board later said “kuchh nahi hua tha (nothing of the sort happened)”.
Nitish along with food and consumer protection minister Narendra Singh and JD(U) spokesman Shivanand Tiwary was on Saturday flown to Giddhaur in Jamui district in a private chopper.

After consoling family members of Independent Banka MP Digvijay Singh, who passed away recently, the trio safely returned to Patna by the same chopper.
On return, Tiwary was aghast to know about the TV reports. “It so happened that minutes after the take-off from Giddhaur, the pilot told us that he heard a peculiar sound and sought our permission to land and check,” Tiwary told TOI and added the CM told him it was his prerogative to do so.
The chopper landed at Giddhaur from where it had taken off. “The pilot and co-pilot deplaned while we remained seated inside. The duo found nothing wrong with the chopper and we took off again after a few minutes,” Tiwary said and rubbished reports that the helicopter was flying with one of its doors open.
By the time Tiwary explained things, the news had created its impact. The CM house was flooded with anxious calls from across the country, an official said. “My worried daughter called up from Dubai,” Tiwary said.
In Giddhaur, the CM met Digvijay’s widow Putul Singh and daughters Shreyashi and Mansi. “Digvijay Singh’s death is my personal loss,” he told them.
