No breakthrough in Malti murder case

patna: the s k puri police have not made any breakthrough in the murder of malti devi, mother of an ips officer, r r verma and her servant, pramod. the police recovered their bodies from her flat on the second floor of krishna apartment on friday. on the basis of initial investigation, the s k puri police claimed that the assailants had, in fact, wanted to eliminate pramod to settle some land disputes in his native place, ballia.it was because of this dispute that an abortive attempt was made on pramod’s life earlier, too, in ballia. malti devi probably fell prey to the assassins’ attack when she came to her servant’s rescue.i the police, however, were clueless as to why the assailants defaced the victims by crushing their heads with lodha (stone). malti devi was cremated at bansghat while pramod’s relatives arrived on saturday to take possession of his body.
