DARBHANGA: Sitting JD(U) MLA from Gaurabauram Izhar Ahmad, who was denied ticket by the party, on Tuesday announced that he would contest the election from the constituency as an independent candidate. Ahmad claimed that he took the decision on the suggestion of JD(U) workers of the area and the voters.
“Chief minister Nitish kumar has requested me to reconsider the decision.
However, I have made up my mind to contest the election as independent candidate,” Izhar Ahmad said.
“I was the lone Muslim MLA of JD(U) in the region. Yet, the party denied ticket to me. This is a gross injustice,” Ahmad said. Gaurabauram seat went to the kitty of
RJD after the Mahagathbandhan partners reached seat sharing agreement. The RJD has fielded Madan Sahni from the seat.
