`Silk Fab-2010' was formally inaugurated on Sunday here at the Indira Gandhi Science Complex, Planetarium. This is a national level exhibition-cum-sale of exquisite handloom silk products. After the success of two consecutive years, this exhibition is back here again in the city with 20 per cent discount on every product.
It offers a wide variety of handloom silk products in 83 stalls from 15 states. The starting range of sarees and dress materials is Rs 1,000 which goes up to Rs 20,000. The exhibition will continue till December 4.
For spreading the Indian traditional values through the age-old art of handloom weaving, the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) Ltd is organizing this exhibition since the last decade in various metropolitan cities. Its aim is to provide a platform for the weavers of various states for their sale. Its mission is to enhance the development of handloom sector and provide the desired marketing support to the weavers.
These expos are under the sponsorship of development commissioner for handloom, ministry of textiles, government of India, which supports this activity for the benefit of handloom weavers by providing financial support required for the infrastructure and publicity for holding these expos.
At this Expo handloom, silk products from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthani, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are available.
A stall named, Jharcraft, which is certified for organic material, has brought the famous organic Tassar of Ranchi ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
The city weavers from Bhagalpur are participating in the exhibition with the range of Rs 4,000 to Rs 7,000.
The famous Valkalam silk from Mubarakpur, Azamgarh, is there for you between the ranges of Rs 2,400 to Rs 6,400.
After having a sale of Rs 7 lakh last year, Kanchipuram sarees of Tamil Nadu are available and its starts from Rs 4,000 and goes up to Rs 15,000. Baluchari, Jamawar (Banaras), Chanderi, Chattisgarh tribal work and Madhubani paintings are also available.
With no intention to overlook the demands of youngsters, this year a wide variety of ladies' short kurti and suit and dress materials are also available. Not only this, to serve the demands of men, kurta-payjama and shirting ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 are also there.
