Bihar registers 119 new dengue cases

PATNA: The state on Monday registered fresh 119 dengue cases. With this, the state's dengue tally so far this year has increased to 8,864. Over 24% of total cases have been registered in just eight days of October.

According to the state health department, of the 119 cases logged on Monday, Patna accounted for 30, followed by Bhagalpur (16), Saran (15), Nawada (10) and Vaishali (9).

On Monday, 277 dengue patients were undergoing treatment at different government hospitals in the state, including 113 at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, 28 at Patna Medical College and Hospital, 28 at Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences, 24 at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, 23 at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital and 14 at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday said there was no dearth of platelets as well as beds for dengue patients in the hospitals.

"On an average, 150 dengue positive cases are registered per day. However, most patients recover after treatment," he said.
