Patna: Two youths died in a road accident at Bandhopar village under Gaurichak police station area of Patna district on Sunday afternoon. The both, riding a scooter, were struck and crushed by a speeding oil tanker, police said.
According to police, the collision was so severe that both of them died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Vaibhav Raj, son of Satish Kumar, a resident of the Panchrukhiya police station area, and Suraj Kumar, son of the late Dhananjay Sharma, a resident of Jehanabad. Both were in their early 20s.
Additional SHO of Gaurichak, Neeraj Kumar, said, “Following the incident, angry locals blocked the road in protest, demanding action against the truck driver who fled with the vehicle after the accident. They demanded compensation for the victims’ families and action against the driver, Awdesh Bhagat of Chhapra in Saran district. Police arrived there and calmed the crowd, and sent the bodies for post-mortem.”
However, he further said with the help of CCTV footage, the tanker was seized by the police from the Gopalpur police station area, and driver was taken into custody for interrogation. The police are taking further legal action in the matter. The truck was going to Gaya.
