VIP functionary shot dead in East Champaran
Motihari: A Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) functionary, Kameshwar Sahani, was shot dead on Friday morning near his home in Tikoni village under the Chhoradano police station area by unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals. He was the president of the VIP’s Chhoradano block unit in East Champaran district.
Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem to Motihari Sadar Hospital. Police recovered three empty cartridges from the spot and a forensic team was called to assist the investigation. Manish Anand, SDPO of Raxaul, said, “The police are investigating the case from several angles and the criminals would be arrested soon.”
The murder of the young VIP leader has sparked tension in this bordering area. VIP workers are outraged and have termed it a direct targeted killing. Initial information suggests the murder may be linked to political rivalry or an old feud, though the police are examining all possibilities.
Shamim Ahmad, former MLA and RJD leader, and JD(U) MLA Vishal Kumar have demanded immediate police action in what they described as the cold-blooded killing of a political worker.
