Woman among two held for smuggling 175kg ganja

Ara: One Neha Kumari (32), along with her accomplice Raju Kumar (35), was arrested for smuggling 175kg of ganja in a luxury car in the Bhojpur district on Wednesday. Police said the price of seized ganja, being brought from Odisha, is Rs 15 lakh. This is the first instance of a woman being involved in smuggling narcotics on such a big scale in the Bhojpur district. Sadar SDPO, Parichay Kumar, said on Wednesday, "Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO of Udwantnagar PS, Ram Kalyan Yadav, intercepted a car at Sahar-Tetariya More under the Udwantnagar police station area and confiscated 175 kg ganja from the possession of two smugglers. The smugglers were identified as Neha Kumari, wife of one Saurav Kumar Singh, a resident of Kharaini village under the Udwantnagar PS, and her accomplice Raju Kumar, son of one Ram Pratap Yadav, of Balbatra locality under the Ara Town PS. Both the drug peddlers were arrested. The police also seized two cellphones, a luxury car, and eight different number plates from the possession of the nabbed smugglers."The SDPO said during interrogation the arrested drug peddlers told the police that they were bringing the seized ganja from Odisha.
